Which one looks most like you: A, B, C or D?

Why Your Sleeping Position Matters More Than You Think

During sleep, your body continues to perform essential functions. Muscles recover, tissues undergo repair, and the brain processes information acquired throughout the day.

Although your body is resting, the position you maintain for hours can influence the pressure placed on your neck, shoulders, hips, and lower back.

Imagine sleeping with your head tilted sharply to one side for an entire night. You might wake up with tight neck muscles or difficulty turning your head comfortably.

Similarly, if your lower back is held in an uncomfortable position for hours, you may notice stiffness when you first get out of bed.

A supportive sleeping position aims to keep your head, neck, and spine in a reasonably neutral alignment while reducing unnecessary pressure on sensitive areas.

However, alignment is not the only consideration.

Your breathing can also change with your sleeping position. Some people snore more when lying on their backs, while others experience worsening acid reflux when they lie flat.
