As an Oregon community mourns 4 killed in school shooting, 2 wounded survivors remain hospitalized
In a video on the Sparrow Clubs page, Saylor introduces herself, saying she loves watching Bluey and being around other kids, especially her brother. She said that while she is challenged by physical and cognitive issues, she can communicate with her eyes and a computer tablet.
“I prove every day that I’m a fighter who doesn’t give up," she wrote in the video. "Living with CASK-related challenges is full of unknowns, which can be very hard and scary for my whole family,” she said, “But it doesn’t keep me from smiling, laughing and living with joy!”
Some of the high school students who worked with Saylor said helping her gave them hope that there is still humanity in this world.
After the shooting, she was taken to a hospital in Portland. A GoFundMe for her family has raised almost $700,000.
“We will not let her name be forgotten”
Devon Johnson visited the memorial outside the school Saturday morning. Her husband teaches at Bend High School, and she is a volleyball coach at High Desert Middle School, so they are close with many of the staff at the elementary school.
