Chapter 6: The Conversation I Didn't Expect to Remember
There was no sudden transformation after the stranger offered me food. The station did not become quiet, the rain did not stop, and the departure board did not immediately announce that every bus was running again.
Instead, the evening continued in small, ordinary stages.
We talked a little longer. The stranger asked whether I had found a way to contact the people expecting me, and I explained that my phone was nearly out of power. They listened and suggested that I look for a charging point or ask the station staff whether one was available.
It was practical advice, and it reminded me that kindness can be useful in more than one way.
Sometimes, people assume that helping someone means taking responsibility for the entire problem. But the stranger did not try to organize my journey or make decisions on my behalf. They offered food, listened to what was happening, and suggested a simple next step.
