## Part 2: Essential First Aid Steps for Insect Stings
1. **Remove the Stinger Immediately:** If stung by a honeybee, scrape the stinger out gently using a fingernail or a rigid card. Do not squeeze it with tweezers, as this can inject more venom into the tissue.
2. **Clean the Area:** Wash the sting site thoroughly with mild soap and warm water to prevent secondary bacterial infections.
3. **Apply a Cold Compress:** Place an ice pack or cold cloth over the sting for 10 to 15 minutes to reduce pain and local swelling.
4. **Elevate the Limb:** If the sting is on an arm or leg, keep the limb elevated to minimize fluid accumulation.
5. **Use Emergency Medication If Prescribed:** Individuals known to have severe allergies should use an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen) immediately and call emergency services without delay.
